Take Ctrl is a digital inclusion initiative across the whole of North Wales which aims to raise awareness of (and provide training in) the use of digital technologies as a means of tackling financial exclusion.
The project itself is specifically targeted at housing association staff and tenant, and at the end of it’s life-span hopes to have helped over 1,000 people.
The project’s aim is to provide people with the relevant skills and knowledge to make informed choices and to better manage their finances. Its ultimate goal is to ensure that digital, financial and social exclusion are reduced and to embed the rationale for driving digital take-up in order to eradicate poverty. It’s no secret that government service are increasingly moving on-line and with the proposed changes to the Universal Credit, before long people will have to know how to use the internet to claim their benefits. In the not too distant future, if you can’t get on-line then you will run the risk of being even worse off.
How the project will work
The project’ digital inclusion officer, Jen Bailey has been appointed for a two-year period to manage a programme of development and community-based training which will include a mix of informal taster sessions (1-2 hours) and more formal training courses. For more details see the calendar of forthcoming events or if you have a specific enquiry please contact Jen.
A number of volunteers and digital champions and mentors will be identified and nurtured as part of this initiative. Again, if you think you could lend your support please get in touch.
