This is the official website for the Take Ctrl project, a digital inclusion initiative across the whole of North Wales which aims to raise awareness of the use of digital technologies as a means of specifically tackling financial exclusion. In a nutshell it will encourage people to get on-line to make sure they have a better quality of life.
This website will provide basic information on the project itself, including a calendar of events and training, as well as links to partner organisations and other websites and useful resources. The blog itself will allow members to raise awareness, share ideas, common fears and aspirations. Hopefully this will help break down some of the initial barriers that prevent people from taking that first step.
Why?
People who have never been on line (i.e. until now have been ‘digitally excluded’) are also more likely to be financially worse off and are often quite isolated.
This project recognises the relationship between the three and will provide a programme of training and support for staff and tenants so that ultimately, through introducing people to the benefits of being online, more people in the North Wales area will be better off.
We want to ensure that the most vulnerable groups in society have the confidence, skills and knowledge to be able to access relevant financial (and other) information on the internet and to take advantage of the ease and availability of on-line deals.
